What is a Geroler?

We all know that orbital hydraulic motors are widely used in the machinery industry, especially in smaller equipment.

For this type of motor, there are different terms used to describe it, such as Gerotor and Geroler. Industry professionals are usually familiar with the distinction between these two terms. However, if you're new to the field, you might find it confusing-why are there different names for what seem to be the same type of motor?

In fact, these two terms refer to different internal structures, although their working principles are the same. Both are types of orbital hydraulic motors.

From the product images, you can see that there are roller needles positioned between the stator and the rotor. That's right-the key difference in the Geroler motor compared to earlier designs is the addition of these roller needles between the stator and rotor. This structural upgrade eliminates direct metal-to-metal contact between the stator and rotor. As a result, it not only increases motor efficiency but also ensures smoother operation, particularly at low speeds, helping to avoid issues like jittering.

This roller needle design also significantly extends the service life of the motor and reduces maintenance costs. Additionally, the presence of roller needles effectively lowers friction-generated heat, further enhancing the motor's overall performance. Therefore, despite the different terminology, the Geroler motor demonstrates superior performance in practical applications.

Unlike other products, motors have a complex internal structure, involving many components and requiring high precision. This makes it difficult to assess the quality of a hydraulic motor based solely on its appearance. As such, when purchasing a motor, it's important to take a comprehensive approach: understand the internal materials, the precision of the components, the quality control standards, and evaluate the manufacturer's capabilities and after-sales service.
